I think I will build my own working unit with a Raspberry Pi 4B or Pi400 and a mayflash Dolphin bar. Retro Pi Berryboot seems like a smarter option if you want to enjoy yourself.
Light gun games have flash mode which means flashes on the screen. It will cause seizures. I wish that put the option to turn flash mode off.

Anyways, I really really hope we see a physical release of this. Given the Panzer Dragoon remake had a (albeit limited) physical release, and they've stated they foresee the HOTD remake being bigger/more popular, I'd like to think a physical release is all but guaranteed.
It should go to Oculus Quest. Its the best “lightgun” experience since the PS2, the move was pretty lackluster both in Ps3 and specially in VR.
If I remember correctly the legacy console gen had lightguns that used infrared sensors, the most current lightgun that would be the best for Nintendo would be the sinden, however I do not see a company looking to sell the game if it requires the pricy light gun. I could see them doing their own gun with infra sensors. Sinden lightgun support in game as a native option would be amazing however. Just adding support alone would make the cash grind simpler.

This mirrors my biggest concern for the House of the Dead Remake. By this point, they need to have a game plan for the controls.

Sega already made 2 light gun games for the Wii that actually worked like a real light gun. They included a calibration system and an option to turn off the cursor so you can aim like a real gun. Otherwise it's like pointing and clicking with a mouse which is super lame. The games are HOTD 2&3 and Ghost Squad. They nailed the calibration on these games. The downside is that the aiming is calibrated based on where in the room you were standing and holding the "gun" when you calibrated. If you move from that spot, sit down, stand up, etc it will throw off the calibration as you have moved from the spot you calibrated from. You have to shoot from the same spot to keep the accuracy on point. Really hope they come out with an economical and sensorless lightgun that works on HD TVs soon. I really miss lightgun games.
One of the Joy-Cons have an IR sensor, remember. If the game allows a "Wiimote" mode where you can use one of those battery-powered 3rd party Wii sensor bars in conjunction with the Joy-Con's IR sensor, it could work just as well as the Wiimote or better for simulating a lightgun.
How does the Deer Hunter Arcade game on Switch play? I think that game uses the Joy-Con IR sensor.

I'm terrified it's gonna just use the joystick.
Having it on PC would have done this a lot more justice not only is a mouse a little more accurate on speed and such but There is also the Sinden Lightgun which would have been perfect to utilize with this since it's very much like the classic Arcade feel no sensor bar and works on Modern displays no cross hair needed. it's simulated as a Mouse but the tracking is no sensor bar and it uses a 60FPS webcam to pick up the image and give you quick and precise movement hell you can even tilt the gun Gangster mode style and it will still be calibrated properly only draw back is a border you will have to use but you can make it thin or you can change it's colors.
There are other Lightgun options on PC as well the Aimtrek and the Mayflash Dolphin bar but those do have a sensor bar but they work on modern displays so again PC would of been a way better option seeing how Lightguns are very much a working thing on that Platform and Thanks to Sinden now we are closer then ever with the REAL Arcade feel.
