Watch at: 00:00 / 00:00:20hey everyonezian over here from nintendo life andtoday we're here to share with you ourreviewof fitness boxing 2 rhythm and exerciseon the nintendo switchnow this review was originally writtenby the wonderful chris scullion fornintendo nintendolife.combut was reworked into this video by meWatch at: 00:20 / 00:40the original fitness boxing launched acouple years backand while it certainly served itspurpose two years is a long time foranyone to be playing one game on a dailyWatch at: 00:40 / 01:00basisas was its intention with that in mindfitness boxing 2 rhythm and exercise isnow in our handsbut a lot has changed in two years ringfit adventure is a thingand nothing else really comes close toit on the switch so the question isdoes this sequel offer up enough newfeatures to justify a second roundWatch at: 01:00 / 01:20or should it have thrown in the toweland left fans to keep playing theoriginalthe answer annoyingly lies somewhere inthe middlethe general idea in fitness boxing 2 isthe same as it was the first time aroundthe main menu gives you the choice of adaily workout or free trainingthe latter of these lets you choosewhich workout to do its intensity levelWatch at: 01:20 / 01:40which music you want to accompany youhow fast you want the music to playand which background you'd like as youwork out you then start the exerciseitself where you have to punch a seriesof icons to the beatthese icons represent different actionsand while early on it's fairlystraightforward stuff likejabs straights hooks and uppercutseventually it throws in ducking weavingWatch at: 01:40 / 02:00blocking stepping and the like afteryour workout is completeyou're then scored on how accurate yourpunches were and that's more or lessit really just like in the original theway fitness boxing 2 detects punchescould be better but motion controls ofthis type were never going to beentirely accuratejabs and straights are fine for the mostpart but when you start introducingWatch at: 02:00 / 02:20hooks and uppercuts to the mixthat's when things start to get a littlemessy until you reverse engineer thejoy-con in your head and figure outexactly what gestures the switch islooking forthe game isn't checking to see if you'vedone the uppercut properlybecause it's really got no way oftelling that it's simply checking itsaccelerometers for a quick burst ofmotionWatch at: 02:20 / 02:40this means simply doing the motion isn'tenough you've got to properly punch itat the end and make it registerit's perhaps a tiny bit more forgivingthan the first game was at registeringsome of these puncheslike hooks we especially had problemswith but given that these calculationsare done in secretit's hard to tell whether it actuallyhas improved the motion detectionor if we're just used to playing thefirst game so much there are also someWatch at: 02:40 / 03:00performance issues from time to timewhen a game mainly consists of followinga set of large squares sliding up thescreenit becomes far more noticeable whenthose squares aren't moving perfectlyand they certainly chug along at timeswe don't know if it's our imaginationbut on some songs it felt like we wentcompletely off the beatWatch at: 03:00 / 03:20all while still nailing perfix on ourpunching timing everything just soundeda bit off as before you're accompaniedby a fitness instructorand while there were six to choose fromin the first game there are nowthree newcomers to try and warm up tokaren whose name is rather unfortunatein 2020but is a sign that there's still somegood cairns out at: 04:00 / 04:20as was the case before each instructorhas their own outfits to choose fromand you can unlock them over the courseof the game the unlocking process hasbeen made far more thegame and you'd really have to try hardto run out of themslightly less generous is the selectionof music available to youthe first fitness boxing had 20 songsand the general theme was popWatch at: 05:00 / 05:20you had the likes of lady gaga kellyclarkson justin bieber maroon 5 and morethis time around there are another 20songs available as well as threeforgettable originaltunes and they seem to span a widerrange of decades while you've still gotsome relatively modern tracks like hotand cold by katy perry and alone bymarshmallow there's a hefty percentageof older ones tooWatch at: 05:20 / 05:40a bit of girls just want to have fun bycindy lauper of courseit's in there boogie wonderland by earthwind and fireokay sandstorm by derude say no morethe thing is with only 20 songs tochoose from there isn't a lot of scopeto vary the track listing a bit and theodd tracks that look like attempts tostep out of the cheesy pop categoryWatch at: 05:40 / 06:00just feel like they stand out awkwardlybut above all else the songs are stillunlicensed midi quality coverinstrumentals that thankfully aren't asbad as the ones that we remember fromthe days of donkey konga but they getold quickwe have no idea why it was decided todraw the line at 20 whenrealistically there could have beenloads of songs packed in thereone potentially shining light is thatWatch at: 06:00 / 06:20the main menu has an e-shop optionwhich currently just takes you to theeshop where you're met with an errormessage thatreally shows that there's nothing therethis suggests that there's dlc comingdown the pipeline so with any luckit'll mean that there will be more songsand with even more luckthey'll be free because it would be abit of a joke to charge actual moneyWatch at: 06:20 / 06:40for music that sounds like a 14 year oldmade it on their yamaha that theirgrandma or grandpa bought them forchristmasnow to throw in just one suggestion ifwe may while such an undertaking isobviously far too late now for fitnessboxing 2maybe it might be an idea for the thirdgame let us not forget about the joysound librarythe joy sound karaoke app was one of theWatch at: 06:40 / 07:00wii u few successes in japanand it's now currently on the switchwhere it has no fewer than 180 thousandsongs along with tempo control if therewas a way to somehow integrate that withfitness boxing and charge a membershipfee to give the player access to a muchlarger librarythat would make every day feel freshrather than having you feel like you'veWatch at: 07:00 / 07:20heard everything after justthree weeks and that's ultimately themain issue here nothing in fitnessboxing is remarkably badthe controls work as well as they couldand some performance issues asideyou can still get a half decent workoutas long as you're willing to put theeffort in and aren't just temptedto sit on the couch and flick thejoy-con once you realize that that worksWatch at: 07:20 / 07:40just as well the problem is simply thatthere isn't enough variety hereand while there are a series ofdifferent workouts to unlock they're allthe same sort of thingthis is no major flaw in itself it'scalled fitness boxing so if they startedthrowing ballet moves in there you'd beannoyed but this repetition would feel alot less monotonous if there was moremusic to make each dayfeel differentWatch at: 07:40 / 08:00fans of the original fitness boxing willfeel at home with the sequelif a little disappointed that it isn'tquite the evolution it could have beena few new instructors and an improvedachievement system isn't quite enough tomake up for the 1. "Customising trainers." how many punches do you have to throw to unlock the breast enhancement and pants bulge customisation? With the option to do both, since it's 2020.

  2. Why not make it come true: Punch-Out!!! Deluxe – I would play this every weekday after work , promised 😉 I totally enjoyed the Wii-version!!

  3. I would say that Ring Fit is overall a better videogame and exercise tool, however Fitness Boxing 2 is typically half the price of Ring Fit and it's still more than competent at what it sets out to do

  4. Never played the first game, but we got this one. I have no complaints. My girlfriend hates working out but she loves this game. It's very fun and it can kick your ass.

  5. Sandstorm is in it? I'm sold.
Good review. I do plan on getting it after this and playing the demo. Now I can switch between RFA and this.
Although the motion controls really mess with my head when I throw punches since I know how to punch. Just have to gam-ify my punches and problem solved.

  6. Having been playing this for a month or so, I've gone back to FB1. FB2 is much more gamified and motivating. But, its workouts seem easier and don't build to a crescendo as well. And while FB1 drops frames every now and then on some backgrounds, FB2 slows down on all of its backgrounds (to differing degrees). You actually have to slow your punch rate down when its doing all its fancy background effects. Apart from being a bit annoying, it also means the combos at the end of a routine are easier than they should be because they are slower than they should be.

  7. Game is ok I really wanted to love it but the weaves just don’t register at any reliable way for me. I wish the instructors had a bit more differences to them. After ring fit it’s been hard to stay with this one. I’m going to stick with it a bit more as I do get a great workout definitely a mixed bag.

  8. I never had the first Fitness Boxing game, I started with 2. I’ve been enjoying it, good way to keep in shape and stay active. Been playing it a lot more than Ring Fit Adventure

  9. I bought this game a week ago and have been playing everyday. I even got my wife to play with me now as well and it has become a great daily routine. It’s not perfect but I definitely think this is a great game!

  10. I think exercising video games need to quit putting their own soundtrack that pretty much no one cares, even PlayStation has a thing where you can listen to your Spotify music while you're just playing regular video games but if you can just listen to your own music then it'll pretty much be a success.

  11. This should be more like Dance Dance Revolution where you're constantly punching during a track. The interuptions from the instructors are annoying and detract from the game.
