00:20 / 00:40the new faction introduced in the Age ofDiscovery update that was launched onOctober 9th 2018 in Star Trek Online Iam going to be playing this for thefirst time and I'm going to see whatWatch at: 00:40 / 01:00this is all about I'm going to give youmy honest opinions and thoughts andreactions and reviews along the way Ihave not played this yet so this is afirst blind playthrough for me intoday's video I am going to play theentire tutorial and it's going to be oneWatch at: 01:00 / 01:20video the subsequent videos I will playwill be of the discovery missions thatthey have for this faction and I thinkthere's only two of them and then thetask force operations I will make this aseries of videos starting with this oneWatch at: 01:20 / 01:40and continuing as long as I can in in the DSC Starfleet asWatch at: 02:00 / 02:20they are calling it and so I'm going tochoose a human male just start off withthe basics there in the future I maymake other characters and I can chooseVulcan or alien and I will probably dothat because I like to have anengineering a science and a tacticalWatch at: 02:20 / 02:40career in each faction that I play buttoday we're going to start with theengineering career so I've done scienceand tactical a lot lately and so it'stime to do another engineering characterso this will be engineering and I thinkthis will fit quite well with thestarships that are going to give us inWatch at: 02:40 / 03:00the discovery whole discoveryplaythrough here so anyway I'm going tochoose that appearance I'm just gonna gowith my basic appearance right now Ireally have no idea you know what kindof character I want to make him looklike or appear as what kind of hair IWatch at: 03:00 / 03:20want or anything like that in time Iwill probably customize his looks andthey will be different from what you seehere but for right now let's just gowith the default look because I don'twant to spend a lot of time in thecharacter creation menu here I inDiscovery yes it doesn't fit with theTOS era Star Trek at all in this timeperiod but I do like them just on theirown and in fact I could almost buy thatWatch at: 01:47:40 / 01:48:00they are a previous generation ship towhat we see in the TOS era except forthe fact that this is only ten yearsbefore Kirk took control of theenterprise the enterprise is out thereright now with Captain Pike so the theold classic Connie Constitution classWatch at: 01:48:00 / 01:48:20starship design and look is out there soit's that's why it just doesn't makesense this you know changing ofeverything the uniforms don't make sensethen the TOS area here they should bethe other everyone should be wearing thebrightly colored uniforms I could getthat maybe you know fifty years beforethis the uniforms might look like thisWatch at: 01:48:20 / 01:48:40but by this time period by the twentytwo fifty six that we're in they shouldlook like this they should look likethat classic TOS uniforms so of coursethat's an issue and just many things theknot Klingons that don't look likeKlingons the knot Klingon ships thatdon't look like Klingon ships all ofWatch at: 01:48:40 / 01:49:00that just doesn't jive with this era ofStar Trek this timeline this time periodof Star Trek that we've seen from TOSStar Trek doesn't align and so that'svery jarring playing this as you seethat in the tutorial here you reallyreally see how different it is from TOSWatch at: 01:49:00 / 01:49:20and it shouldn't be different becauseit's supposed to be the TOS era but itdoesn't feel like it it feels like acompletely different Star Trek it feelslike I'm playing Star Trek but from analternate universethat's just what it feels like and ofcourse that's that's that's unfortunateWatch at: 01:49:20 / 01:49:40they already have a TOS era faction inthe game I just don't think that thisdiscovery era stuff is needed becauseyou already have one that takes placeabout ten years later the TOS erafaction which has even more missionsthan this this only has two missions cuzWatch at: 01:49:40 / 01:50:00check this outwe've got secrets and we got downfalland then we're in the task forceoperations so we do not have a lot ofmissions right now for this discoveryera there's a lot more missions in theTOS era faction if you've never seen myTOS era faction go check out theplaythrough on it there are moremissions related to the TOS era that youWatch at: 01:50:00 / 01:50:20can play and if and and that's what thisshould be it's it almost seems redundantit's like you don't need two factionswithin that close of a time periodbecause it's it's it's - what one iswhat it's supposed to be and the otherone is what it's trying to be but isn'tso it just doesn't make sense it justWatch at: 01:50:20 / 01:50:40doesn't make sense it's hard to explainbut it's like the two just should notcoexist in the same time period it'sjust a redundant redundant and if youalready want to play TOS just go playthe TOS faction why I mean that what'sthe point of the discovery faction Idon'tWatch at: 01:50:40 / 01:51:00so talking about the tutorial itself itis definitely 100% a reskin of the 2409Starfleet Federation tutorial now I wasthey were trying to sell me that thiswas supposed to be a quote reimaginedWatch at: 01:51:00 / 01:51:20tutorial experience reimagined I don'tsee the reimagining I'm not getting thereimagine part if it's there tell mewhere it's at and show me because I'mnot seeing reimagined all I'm seeing isthey took the original tutorial and theyWatch at: 01:51:20 / 01:51:40just changed out the clothing fordiscovery changed out the ships changedout the instead of the bore gets the notKlingons and everything is pretty muchthe same it's the same formula the sameformat the same things you have to do toWatch at: 01:51:40 / 01:52:00get to the next point it's all the sameit's a reskin of the tutorial that'salready there there's nothing differentabout it if you go play the StarfleetFederation tutorial you will see
